Hey December,
Finally, you have arrived.
Drifting through the yellow leaf beds,
after a year-long break,
Finally, you have arrived.
Your appearance brings back the joy,
Of the newness of nature and life,
And the message that you bring along,
That nothing stays forever
and the only constant is ‘change’.
Your arrival makes me sad too,
when you remind me of the unproductive year I had,
and the unattended climbs!
Patience would be a matter of your legacy,
as you wait for all of your siblings to pass,
making yourself the last one to come to the limelight.
Tolerance is your power,
As you survive the coldest weather in the world,
and face the hottest criticism,
for all the deeds of others who came before you.
There is a lot more to learn from you.
There is a lot more to take away,
When I prepare myself,
for the sunny days that are awaiting,
for the new beginnings, for the new year.
Hope is something you offer,
that gives me a sense of calmness.
Hope, for better days, a better yield, better growth and fewer catastrophes.
I believe I can evolve as a better person,
learning from the steps that went wrong,
and the paths where I lost direction.
I wish you could stay longer
so that I could get more time to interpret the past year.
More time to introspect and prepare myself for the new year.
But you are the fastest of the twelve
And the sweetest too.
Hey December,
When we meet again next time,
I hope you remember this conversation we had.
And I wish you a safe journey, peace and joy
while you make way for the new sun rays,
And hibernate yourself in the snowy mountains.
