THANK ME LATER

When the warmness of the deep blue sky fades away,
And the cool breeze cease to exist between us,
Thank me then,
for all the nights I put you to sleep.

When the river starts to flow backwards,
And the trees stop dancing to the wind,
Thank me then,
for holding you close to my chest and keeping you safe.

When silence overpowers feelings,
And we no longer discuss the existence of the universe
or poems of Shakespeare,
Thank me then,
for the lively conversations we had.

When the ignited fire is not hot red anymore,
And when it turns into fumes and ashes,
Thank me then for the happiness we found in little things,
Though pleasing or challenging, the phase was.

When you used to thank me for all the little things,
I was telling you to thank me later when the time comes,
And you kept on asking why later,
Here is the answer, now is the time,
Thank me now,
Because I thank you for being what you were for me,
being the world to a hollow tree that survived a storm.
I thank you now!
